Treating Your Illness with Natural Health

Like the rest of us, you probably run right for the cold and flu remedy aisle of the store when you feel the sniffles set in. It is common for people to look to over the counter medications to cure all of their illnesses. What if you could choose something different?

What if you didn’t even have to leave the house to find a cure for your cold or flu? Why do you need to go outside at all when you are sick? There are lots of natural cures for your illness.

If you want to stay healthy and not get sick in the first place, natural health is the best option for keeping you well.

A nutritious and balanced diet, working out on a regular basis and washing your hands a few times a day are all easy and natural things you can do to stay well. Not only do these things strengthen your physical muscles, they will strengthen your immune system as well. Those old sports clichés about offense and defense are applicable elsewhere! Using old metaphors to help you stay healthy is smart. And don’t forget that wearing some clip on sunglasses will keep your eyes healthy longer.

Vitamin C can be found in lots of places! Those leafy greens you usually pass up are also great sources of Vitamin C! When you feel a cold or flu starting to take hold, start chowing down on salads and other leafy greens to help combat the germs that are trying to invade. Lemons and limes are also good sources of vitamin C!

Vitamin C is also found in bell peppers so why not add them to your favorite meals? Fighting off illness is easier when you infuse your food with vitamin C-and your food will taste better as well!

Use steam! Why spend a bunch of money on decongestants when long showers and baths are just as effective? The inhaled steam will loosen up your sinuses which make it easier for you to breathe. To get better you need to get lots of rest and the heat from the water will relax your muscles which will make it easier to rest. If you aren’t up for taking a full shower or bath, inhale some steam from a pot of steaming water by leaning over the face of the pot and putting a towel over your head. The steam is directed toward your face by the sides of the towel which also help keep the water from cooling too quickly. Blowing your nose after breathing in some steam is far more productive than it would be if you hadn’t relaxed your sinuses first.

There is no law that forces you to choose over the counter medication if you catch the flu. Why not choose from the natural health cures that you have filling your kitchen already? Don’t spend a bunch of money and time on something that does not require it. Choosing natural health cures just makes more sense.
